What if the USA offers to make operational for civilian use (Control Tower, radar, communications, meteorology, fuel depots, runways, maintenance, etc.) the airports across Afghanistan, in exchange for, among some other things, civilian and commercial airplanes to airlift those in the country who helped us, worked for or with us, plus subcontractors, HGOs, Churches and charities and others at risk? We can hire our allies close to Afghanistan do the work and run the fac es, while the locals learn, In the wean time the airports would start to receive commercial flights and flight as passengers those left behind, across the country. Is not the same to fight a war than run and govern a country. The Taliban need assistance to avert a serious crisis in the country, which is not the same as 20 years ago, Every faction of the Taliban will be happy to have an operational airport facility in their province. We cooperated with many of our former foes, now our allies. We are already hunting down their enemies, ISIS K. Personally don’t trust them but, the idea is to fulfill our moral obligation and give a viable opportunity to get out to those left behind who want to get out. The Taliban, a morally repulsive a they may seen, generally cooperated with us, it could happen again, is in their best interest. Specially after they witness how we take care of ISIS K and they gt invaluablle infrastructure. Yes we will have to pay but is a lot less than the war and we can be trusted again. This could be the beginning of something. This is just an idea. Is open to debate.
