    About This Role:



    Join the Facilities Ground Maintenance team as a Temporary Landscape Technician I. You will participate in planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, weed whipping, mowing, pulling and hoeing weeds, raking leaves, picking up trash and debris, cleaning sidewalks, mulching, and snow removal by operating various tools and equipment of the trade. THIS POSITION IS PART TIME, TEMPORARY.

    The role of the Grounds Maintenance and Landscape Department is to provide a safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing exterior environment for the students, faculty, and staff of Kansas State University.

The main campus of K-State consists of 250 acres of intensely landscaped area. The Grounds Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance and installation of all turfgrass, shrubs, trees and annual flower beds on campus.

    What You'll Need to Succeed:



    Preferred Qualifications:

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of the general practices applied in the care and safe operation of a wide variety of light to medium maintenance equipment.
    • Knowledge of standard safety practices.
    • Ability to operate a wide variety of lighter and some heavy equipment.
    • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of grounds, tree, and shrub care.
    • Six months of experience in equipment operation. Some positions may require attainment of a commercial driver's license.
    • Basic leadership skills.

    Other Requirements:

    • Have and maintain a valid driver's license. Scooter operation license required within the probationary period.
