    We are currently hiring a Compressor Development Engineer who is a key member of the Advanced Technologies Applied Compression team, which works across the business to understand and develop compression technology to meet our customers' needs.

    In this role, you will develop innovative designs of scroll, screw and centrifugal compressors used in HVAC and refrigeration applications, with a focus on the performance and computational analysis of Trane Technology compressors.

    This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite a week) and will be based out of our La Crosse, WI or Bloomington, MN office location.


    Responsibilities:
    Develop models for compressors using high fidelity 1D simulation tools. Create, modify, and tune model to predict compressor performance. Work across team to continuously improve modeling practices.
    Optimize compression system design to meet application requirements for efficiency, system COP, capacity, cost, and reliability.
    Collaborate with engineering teams across the business to provide compressor selection recommendations and refine design to meet application needs. Maintain awareness of new technology through supplier relationships, participation in technical societies, academic research projects, and conferences.
    Work with mechanical design team to ensure that engineering intent is correctly translated to design documentation packages.

    Complete basic and complex engineering analysis to ensure suitability of design, such as finite element analysis, bearing load calculations, hydrodynamic bearing design, and computational fluid dynamics.


    Qualifications:


    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and at least 1-3 years of engineering or product design experience is required.

    Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
    Strong analytical skills with a desire and proficiency to work with engineering software (i.e. Modelica, GT Suite or ANSYS) to perform complex analyses.
    Ability to use proper modeling and simulation tools to develop physics-based compressor models and calibrate models to test data.
    Strong verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization.
    Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) fundamentals. Familiarity with vapor compression cycles and system components.

    Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python is desirableWhat's in it for you:

    pdfBase Pay Range:
    $80,000 to $106,000.
