    Director, Physical Therapy


    Job Summary:


    This is a professional position which includes responsibilities for carrying out a PT-provided POC addressing a patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs, as well as providing physical therapy treatments to patients in accordance with written prescription or referral from a physician, within the scope of practice allowed by national and state-level authorities.

    Other responsibilities include assisting in the clinic with other tasks as assigned. Physical Therapist Assistants can also provide education to the community. Does related work as required.


    Administer physical therapy interventions per patient's POC; communicate with PT re: patient status changes and response to treatment; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as therapeutic exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, walkers, and orthotics to help patients accomplish their treatment goals.

    Administers physical therapy modalities such as mechanical traction, hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation for pain control, neuromuscular re-education, and functional improvements;

    Completes high-quality defensible documentation in a timely manner (within 24h) in the electronic medical record.


    Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient programs.

    Maintains or advances professional and technical knowledge by attending continuing education workshops and in-services; and reviewing professional journals.

    Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.
