The Office of Faculty Development & Diversity fosters excellence across Stanford Medicine through an inclusive community that reflects the global nature of medicine and science today. OFDD offers professional education, leadership programs, networking opportunities, speaker series, and skills-building workshops on cultural considerations, mentorship, unconscious bias, conflict resolution, and other topics critical to creating a positive environment. The Research & Program Officer will implement and administer this vision and mission.Duties include:Independently conduct and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects on faculty recruitment, retention, advancement, and diversity. Strategically capture and represent OFDD projects and collaborations across Stanford Medicine for program evaluation, progress tracking, and improvement implementation. For example, take minutes during collaborations, distill best practices, and effectively disseminate DEI strategies across School of Medicine departments. Analyze and report on faculty evaluations of OFDD programs for presentation to Stanford Medicine leadership and at national conferences. Make decisions on specific topics to pursue. Develop benchmarks, timelines, and end goals. Identify and execute solutions to any issues.Manage professional education, leadership, and diversity programs and initiatives for all Stanford Medicine constituencies, e.g., health equity, mentorship, implicit bias, conflict resolution, microaggressions, inclusive leadership. Target applicable opportunities to appropriate constituency groups and assist with communication and marketing. Evaluate existing programs and suggest improvements and/or gaps in programming. Support the Office in developing and sourcing new programs and initiatives.Develop and maintain databases on information related to faculty development and diversity in medicine to help plan future research and programming activities, for both faculty-specific and intersectional activities across constituency groups. Decide database data elements and functionality. Identify gaps in current programming and initiatives.Create workshop and training materials for professional development activities across Stanford Medicine. Decide format and delivery based on audience and content. Topics include healthcare disparities, physician leadership, mentorship, implicit bias, and microaggressions.Provide some operational support for virtual and in-person programs and events.Write and edit articles for internal and external audiences, including peer-reviewed publications. This may include contributing to manuscript writing components, including but not limited to: literature review, methods, data visualization, references. Identify and pitch topics to the OFDD team, participate in decision-making to select topics, develop content. Topics might include diversity in recruitment, retention, and advancement, as well as building inclusive learning spaces. Develop relationships with key audiences and publications.Support OFDD in developing content and managing logistics for symposia and workshops. Provide direction and support in accomplishing event logistics. Identify and conduct outreach to key constituencies to drive attendance.Other duties may also be assignedDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Strong interest or educational background in medical school environments, educational programs, professional development activities, program evaluation, and diversity and inclusion.Willingness to take initiative and continuously learn new things.Experience conducting research and using statistical analysis.Experience organizing and planning events.Ability to exercise good judgment under pressure.Excellent organizational skills.Strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and two or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Research experience. Program administration experience may be required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasksOccasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 poundsRarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with othersOn-campus mobility* - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job. WORKING CONDITIONS:May work extended hours, evenings or weekendsMay travel locallyOccasional overnight travelThe expected pay range for this position is $69,000 to $99,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.Additional Information
