Seaming and Stitching

Non -Exempt REPORTS TO: Production Manager

Monday – Thursday 6:00AM – 3:30 PM REVISED: 6/29/2023

Purpose of the Job (how it contributes to department objectives):

The Seaming and Stitching positions sew the cut patterns together per the written instructions. Pattern pieces are matched together, and time is taken to match stitch patterns or designs for a seamless effect in the look of a sweater. Attention to detail and a steady hand to guide is key to ensure that stitches are straight, there is no puckers and seams lay correctly.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

• Stitch or seam garment according to the work instructions matching stitch patterns and designs. This includes sewing fronts, backs, sleeves, pockets, zippers, etc.
• Quality focus – look for any flaws in the material or workmanship and either correct or bring to the attention of your supervisor to determine what corrective action needs to occur.
• Quality first, next work on building speed by looking for time saving methods to lay out your pieces, developing a rhythm and creating self-directed internal competition to increase your production speed without sacrificing quality.
• Change thread, adjust sewing machine tensions.
• Work as a team with all departments
• Keep work area clean and maintain a safe work environment

Education and Required Skills:

• 1-2 years sewing experience preferred
• Self-starter with strong organization and the ability to work within a timeline and stay on track.
• Must be able to multi-task
• Dependable and strong communication skills
• Maintain a positive attitude

Work Conditions

• Must be able to sit for 8-10 hours per day
• Ability to lift 5-20 lbs.
• Good vision
• Must have good hand strength and dexterity
• Must be able to operate foot pedals
