    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


    The Information Technology Services Division, located in the Enterprise Operations Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Systems Administrator for our high security environments.

    This role will provide systems administration, computing support, and specialized support services for the enablement of key research and administrative functions by ensuring the security, compliance, functionality, and reliability of research and administrative systems through hands on configuration and support.

    You will:


    Administration and secure configuration of various operating system distributionsRespond and remediate system and network security vulnerabilitiesImplement, test, and support new and emerging technologies while applying security best practices, and required compliance measuresPresent system and network security principles and technology solutions to diverse audiencesConduct risk assessments to determine residual level of risk and any required mitigationsThe installation and configuration of systems to comply with Government regulationsCollaborate with IT colleagues on the design of technical infrastructures targeting specific goals.

    Ensure proper operational support of systems, server and hardware while engaging with stakeholders through ticketing systemGenerate and maintain system, security, and process documentationParticipate in the implementation of required policies, procedures, and configurations; make recommendations for improvementsMinimum requirements include an Associate's Degree or higher, plus 2 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Required skills and experience include:
    The ability to certify and maintain information security related certification(Security+, CASP+, CySA+)

    Knowledge in NIST/ISO standards, DoD directives, and regulatory requirements /53, etc.)Systems integration in a heterogeneous network environmentOperating and providing systems administration and support in a high-security research computing environmentPreferred skills and experience include:

    A current, fully adjudicated TOP SECRET (Tier 5) clearance, and counterintelligence polygraphExperience in automating management of Linux and Windows systemsVMware administration (vRealize, vSphere, NSX, SRM)Experience in development of secure Linux and Windows system baseline configurationsLDAP authentication and managementEnterprise storage resources (ECS, Unity, Nimble, PowerStore)Systems management (SCCM, Ansible, Redhat IDM)Active Directory/Group PolicyThis position is located at the Reston, VA location and will be fully onsite.
