Job Summary
The District Safety Coordinator ensures the development implementation and monitoring of all safety security and emergency preparedness measures in alignment with Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) guidelinesResponsibilities
- Maintain District School School Safety Plans in compliance with MDE guidance.
- Provide guidance on required safety drills fire tornado active shooter/intruder ensure documentation and compliance conduct routine safety security audits of district grounds buildings transportation areas recommend oversee corrective actions related to facility hazards access control security systems assess traffic patterns during school drop-off dismissal make recommendations as needed enhance traffic flow examine propose enhancements to security protocols door alarm codes master keys key cards ensure compliance with safety grants state reporting district policies lead support real-time response recovery emergencies critical incidents coordinate local law enforcement fire departments emergency management agencies train staff in procedures emergency response threat recognition compliance protocols manage Emergency Management Platform Raptor maintain current school staff roles system provide training for employees platform maintain accurate documentation drills audits incidents serve liaison law enforcement first responders parents community partners promote awareness encourage use anonymous reporting tools support parent/community meetings facilitate Threat Assessments Prevention Student Support assist schools conducting proper threat assessments utilizing teams identify monitor potential risks involving student behavior bullying self-harm violence collaborate counselors SROs mental-health partners community agencies implement prevention strategies support programs focused behavior intervention conflict resolution climate improvement work collaboratively Lead School Resource Officer perform duties assigned Chief Staff.
