Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Provide individual and group psychotherapy for patients on the State Security Program in accordance with accepted clinical standards and practice in the field of licensure. Model to paraprofessional staff regarding positive patient interactions with the overall goal of increasing treatment efficacy. Conduct assessments and facilitates treatment to address problems identified.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Individual and Group Therapy/Psychosocial Education
- Conducts therapeutic interventions and provides individual and group psychotherapy with patients in accordance with the patient's individualized treatment plan; works cooperatively with and reports regularly to the treatment team regarding treatment progress, and documents response to treatment in the medical record.
- The individual in this position has access to Protected Health Information (PHI) under the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). PHI must be safeguarded and released in accordance with the provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations and state and federal law.
- In collaboration with the treatment team, establishes treatment goals for patients on the SSP, in accordance with accepted clinical standards and practices in the field, LSH Policy and Procedures, and State/Federal Mandates.
- Interacts with patients to establish/maintain therapeutic relationships, make clinical observations and assessments, identify treatment needs and carry out interventions as determined by the individualized treatment plan.
- Develops and/or prepares and facilitates group psychotherapy and/or psychosocial education groups to meet the treatment needs of patients, the treatment program and SSP.
Treatment Team Duties
- Participates in the completion and development of Comprehensive Individualized Treatment Plans (CITPs), to identify and implement treatment.
- Works cooperatively in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to assess patient's treatment progress and identify on-going treatment needs in compliance with LSH Policy and Procedures and State/Federal Mandates.
- Serves as liaison for patients to the treatment team.
Documentation
- Provides documentation as outlined in the Documentation Systems Manual and Social Service Manual, working in compliance, in regard to content and time frames, with LSH Policy and Procedures and State/Federal Mandates.
Social Service Department Duties
- Provides consultative services to the Social Services Department, as assigned by the Director of Social Services and supervisor.
- Attends group supervision with supervisor or designee
- Attends agency mandated and Social Services Department mandated training.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Engages in continuing education to maintain current skills and competency and to keep abreast of current trends, broaden knowledge, learn new skills and to maintain licensure.
- Performs all additional job related duties as assigned by supervisor and Director of Social Services to accomplish the mission and goals of the State Security Program and LSH.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related human services degree; licensed or license eligible through the Behavior Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) and one year of clinical/counseling experience or providing individual or group therapy.
- CPI Certification within 30 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge and experience in program development.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
- Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
