    POSITION SUMMARY:


    Specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain.

    The Vascular Surgeon will act as an expert in the diagnosis and preoperative, operative and postoperative treatment of diseases and injuries of the vascular system.

    Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Identifies need for tests or follow-up visits. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care.

    The Vascular Surgeon coordinates a course of treatment for patients with a variety of vascular issues while working with an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dieticians, hospitalists, radiologists, pathologists and pharmacists.

    May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations.
    Required Skills
    • Significant experience with all aspects of treating patients with all types of vascular disease, including diagnosis, medical treatment, and reconstructive vascular surgical and endovascular techniques.
    • In addition, should possess the advanced knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive care to patients with vascular disease; understand the needs of these patients; teach this information to others
    • Experience in the interpretation of plethysmography, duplex ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans, angiography, and other diagnostic tests utilized in the diagnosis of vascular disease.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Independent performer and demonstrate self-assessment of their outcomes.

    Required Experience
    • Current California Medical license
    • Graduate from an accredited Medical School
    • Graduate form an accredited Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) training pathway, Independent, Early Specialization, or Integrated.
    • Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
    • Board Certified or Eligible from the American Board of Surgery
