- Provide support to the facility engineering staff as a field / system engineer for facility operations.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Authority, etc.), maintenance, and operations and the DOE customer rep to support system operations.
- Design and upgrade facility systems and components.
- Review and approve system design changes / modifications.
- Oversight of assigned system operations, testing, and maintenance.
- Review proposed changes to the plant's design to ensure do proposed changes not inadvertently change the plant configuration and/or documentation in such a way that would violate the design assumptions or design attributes relied on to mitigate design and beyond design basis accidents.
- Ensuring operation of assigned system is within established operating limits and safety analysis.
- Implement and work to the authorization basis documents in a nuclear facility.
- Perform or assist with hazard analysis of assigned system.
- Review changes to the plant configuration (i.e., modifications, design change notices) to determine impact to design of the facility, safety basis assumptions or analysis, facility operations, and facility operating procedures.
- Adhere to and implement client's Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program.
- Perform Engineering Evaluations of equipment and systems for performance, safety, and deficiencies.
- Perform calculations and develop engineering calculation reports.
- Provide system health reports, design studies, (e.g., root cause analysis, new design development), identify life-cycle cost reductions, and assist with developing integrated technical positions and recommendations for customer approval.
- Provide support to resolve any corrective actions or deficiency identified in the corrective action tracking system related to engineering assignments.
- Develop design details, design or analysis calculations, specifications, safety documentation, etc. that incorporate the applicable design and national code requirements, including nuclear safety requirements, as applicable.

- Ensuring that facility drawings, technical documents, and procedures including operating and emergency procedures, are consistent with the facility / system design and safety basis and facility / system configuration. Technical documents may include Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Single Line Drawings; Electrical Equipment Lists; Control System Design; Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams; Electrical Equipment Specifications; Bulk Material Specifications; Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design; Grounding; Heat Tracing; Fire Detection; Short Circuit Calculations; Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis; Load Flow Analysis; and Electrical System Sizing Calculations; and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Physical ability to perform system walkdowns in the field to include, but not limited to, climbing ladders within facility.
- A minimum of three (3) to ten (10) years' experience in nuclear facilities related to their Engineering discipline (e.g., electrical) and/or field / system engineering
- Distribution systems with voltages ranging from 120V to 13.8kV, transformers and switchgear.
- Electrical system protection, coordination curves, load studies, and arc flash analysis.
- Hands-on electrical design validation and verification experience.
- Low to Medium Voltage Industrial Power Systems with voltage of 480V through 13.8kV.
- Providing oversight, design, planning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low and medium voltage systems infrastructure such as distribution cables, control systems, protective relaying, transformers, switchgear, substations, breakers, motor control centers, alarms, and overall system coordination.
- Lighting design, uninterruptible power systems, vessel heaters and heat trace, lockout/tagout, relay control systems, variable speed drives, diesel generators and automatic transfer switches, harmonics, and their effects on electrical systems
- Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as National Electric Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to include NFPA 70/70E, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements specific to electrical safety.
- Working knowledge of NQA-1 requirements applicable to specifications, design, and execution of related Engineering discipline (e.g., electrical) requirements

POSITION DESCRIPTION

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree of Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Position will be on-site in Aiken, SC.

Work Hours:
