    Director of Major Gifts on behalf of our client, an established, inspiring nonprofit organization that utilizes its research on the law and legal institutions for the benefit of the public in Chicago, IL This is a wonderful,

    full-time, hybrid, direct-hire opportunity with a dynamic, mission-driven team contributing to the improvement of the legal system to better benefit society

    The

    Director of Major Gifts


    will work closely with senior leadership to cultivate relationships with high net worth donors to solidify major gift commitments, develop corporate sponsorships, and compose successful grant proposals.

    Competitive salary range of $85,000 - $95,000 depending on experience
    Hybrid work environment with 3 days from home and only two days in the office
    35 hour work weeks with a M-F schedule and early dismissal Summer Fridays
    Potential to travel out of state on occasion

    Responsibilities:


    Implement strategies across the entire donor lifecycle (identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) to build a strong pipeline of individual, foundation, and corporate donors.

    Collaborate with leadership and volunteers to cultivate and secure major gifts from individuals and foundations.
    Foster long-term giving by nurturing relationships and encouraging planned gifts.
    Develop and implement programs to acknowledge and appreciate donors at all levels.
    Partner with colleagues to convert event sponsors into ongoing program supporters.
    Provide timely reports on donor activity, pipeline health, and revenue forecasts.
    Manage a small grant/development team to oversee all aspects of grant acquisition.
    Identify and cultivate funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
    Supervise grant application administration, reporting, and compliance for all funding sources (private, corporate, local, state, federal).
    Develop strategies to improve grant proposal approval and renewal rates.
    Collaborate with internal staff (Finance, Program) to ensure accurate grant reporting and compliance for all awarded grants.

    Requirements:

    Demonstrated experience in nonprofit development with specific supervisory experience and a preference for work with higher education or research organizations
    Success soliciting and securing major gifts with a proven knowledge of nonprofit fundraising best practices
    Ability to identify and secure grants from public and/or private funders.
    Proficiency in CRM database systems such as Raisers Edge.
    Strategic thinking as well as analytical skills.
    Advanced verbal, written, and public communications.
    Bachelors Degree preferred.

    Compensation:
