    Job Summary Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Process Instrumentation & Controls Engineer who will be working with a team who is be responsible for developing the process control narrative and subsequent control philosophy of the Kairos Power molten salt and nuclear systems.

    In this role, you will contribute to the development programs for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor (KP-FHR).

    The ideal candidate has cross-discipline competence, with an understanding of both process design and control design.

    The successful candidate in this role will have a direct impact on the productivity of the Instrumentation Controls & Electrical Team and of the broader Kairos Power organization.

    Responsibilities Ability to read and interpret Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)


    Coordinate process controls design with process engineersDocument process controls narrativesForm Instrument and IO lists based on P&ID's using smart plant systemsDesign heater controls for large scale facilitiesHeater sizing analysis for controllabilitySpecify instrumentation for process controlsCommunicate with suppliers for instrumentation procurementDesign optimal control strategies including and not limited to model predictive controlWork through different stages of controls from concept to design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and testingProgramming may be required from time to timePerform and supervise installation and test of instrumentation and controls systemsProvide technical leadership on complex instrumentation projects that bridge multiple engineering disciplinesInterpret technical challenges related to Engineering Test and recommend solutions and best practicesSolve complex problems using a broad perspective to identify solutionsGuide others in resolving complex issues regarding data acquisition, instrumentation, and control of industrial processesMaintain a personal focus to execute on Process Instrumentation and ControlsOther duties as assignedQualifications BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar discipline.

    2+ years of relevant work experience in process controls is required Experience with nuclear I&C systems is an advantageAbility to make strategic decisionsAbility to manage complex problemsAbility to obtain a Electrical Engineering (EE) Professional Engineering LicenseExperience with heater controlsExperience creating electrical and controls schematics is a plusKnowledge of industrial protocols is a plusKnowledge of industrial networking is a plusExperience with controller programming is a plusUnderstanding of technical fundamentals of sensors for measuring:
    temperature, pressure, flow, force, torque, displacement, fluid flow, pressure, temperature, motor position, motor speed, etc.
    CAD experience preferred (AutoCad is a bonus)
