    Yes, 25% travel across South Dakota and Iowa for various business purposes. 10% overnight travel to South Dakota


    JOB SUMMARY:


    The Director of Human Resources performs a wide variety of human resource duties on a professional level, partnering with the Executive Management team, office teams, and other departments across the agency, in supporting HR processes and office-specific strategies.

    This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:

    processing employee changes and data entry, benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding, policy implementation, managing renewables and education for assigned staff, employment law compliance, etc.

    This role is responsible for enforcing the human resource activities throughout the Agency, including training, and updating team members on company personnel policies, and procedures, and monitoring and evaluating human resource systems.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Collaborates with the Executive Leadership team to understand the Agency's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. Support leadership and managers by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions.

    Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the Agency's human resources strategy and compliance needs.

    Responsible for the management, administration, and oversight of the following human resources programs and functions, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence; disciplinary matters; job descriptions and classifications; complaints and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and moral; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

    Partners with the talent acquisition team, Executive Leadership, and managers to identify staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

    Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of corporate office, Administrator, and clinical management positions.
    Responsible for timely investigation of escalated employee relation concerns, investigations, etc.
    Partners with leadership and other departments to assess and develop training, leadership, and development needs of staff. Participates in the creation and execution of training, leadership, and development programs.
    Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the HRIS and other systems.

    Monitors and ensures the Agency's compliance with accrediting agencies, Medicare/Medicaid; federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and procedures to maintain compliance.

    Responsible for the management and administration of the HRIS and learning management system; bonus programs; wage analysis; etc.

    Manages direct reports by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees; holding departmental meetings; conducting one-on-one meetings with employees; and providing mentorship and guidance.

    Oversee the worker's compensation program, including analysis of claims and trends, review and assessment of temporary restrictions and accommodations, etc.

    Maintains compliance with OSHA record-keeping and other federal record-keeping requirements including but not limited to ACA, EE0-1 reporting, immigration law compliance, labor law postings, etc.

    Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.


    GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
    Participate in team meetings, Agency committees, goal initiatives, and other meetings or projects as directed.
    Serve as Chair or Co-Chair of Agency committees as assigned.
    Serve as a back-up to corporate human resources and talent acquisitions teams and Office Manager as needed.
    Perform other duties and projects as requested.


    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
    5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resources roles
    4+ years of supervisory and leadership experience
    3+ years of experience in employee relations.
    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
    Healthcare experience is highly preferred.
    HRIS experience (ADP Workforce Now) is a plus.

    Ability to work well in high-pressure situations.

    Strong ability to manage multiple responsibilities with the ability to pivot tasks or duties on short notice based on business needs, and to process information from multiple different sources.

    Strong organization, time management, problem-solving, analytical, influential, and negotiation skills.

    Advanced computer skills required, including MS Office products.
    Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

    Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 20 pounds on daily basis and up to 50 pounds on occasion.

    Ability to travel, including overnights, within South Dakota and Iowa.


    LISCENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:

    • CPR certification is required but may be obtained within 30 days of hire.
    • Valid driver's license, with a good driving history.
    • Proof of auto liability insurance coverage.

    • Adequate lighting for the workspace, clean environment, and moderate noise levels.

    TRAVEL INFORMATION:
    Company car provided for travel.
    Company credit card for travel and marketing use.
    Travel arrangements are booked through the Corporate Office Manager.
    Per diem rate for food and beverage for overnight or extended day travel.


    JUDGEMENT AND INITIATIVE:
    Must work well as a team player, as well as work successfully independently. Must demonstrate a high degree of judgment in the application of staffing requirements and agency policies. Must exercise good initiative in the assignment of candidates. A high degree of confidentiality is required.


    COVID-19 COMPLIANCE:
    As a healthcare entity, Universal Pediatrics adheres to CMS, CDC, OSHA, and state and local
    requirements regarding COVID safety. Following CMS regulations, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or be approved for an exemption, as a condition of
    employment. Unvaccinated staff will be required to wear appropriate PPE in compliance with
    regulations.
