    Minimum Qualifications
    Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or minimum 2 years' experience working in the hospitality industry in similar role.
    • Experience running audio/visual equipment and systems preferred.

    Position Summary
    This position assists the Event Facilities Manager in managing the Department of Event Services which oversees the physical and AV setup of conferences held at the Georgia Center. This entails the use, setup, maintenance, and turnover of 24 technology-enhanced multi-functional conference rooms, 3 boardrooms, 2 auditoriums, exhibit space, banquet ballrooms, and AV support 7 days a week.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
    • Experience running audio/visual equipment and systems.
    • Experience in supervisory and/or managerial roles.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
    • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) clearly and effectively with supervisors, clients, and staff.
    • Ability to work compatibly with co-workers and supervisors, follow instructions accurately, demonstrate an overriding sense of responsibility and care for the functions, tasks, responsibilities, equipment, facilities, and personnel of the Event Services department and the Georgia Center.
    • Ability to act as crew foreman, performing work alongside co-workers, leading by example and motivating co-workers to accomplish tasks, inspecting, and ensuring all job tasks are completed properly and accurately, ensuring office and audiovisual equipment is secure and accounted for.

    • Lift and move heavy equipment (at least fifty pounds at each occurrence) and other audio visual equipment over an eight hour work shift.

    Coordinate set-up of conference facilities including physical room sets and audio-visual requirements.
    • Review conference requests and clarify requests while creating a daily task list (Setup Sheet) for the setup crew.
    • Be a point of contact for our conference planners and internal clients for questions about physical and AV setup for events.
    • Support the department manager with the maintenance of technical audio/visual equipment, tables, chairs, and additional department inventory.
    • Interact with conference planners and internal clients to plan/guide them to a successful meeting/event.

    • Make minor repairs/updates to current AV systems, coordinate AV installations with outside contractors.
    • Coordinate technical support/setup with events/groups/UGA units coming to the Georgia Center.

    • Provide oversight to all meeting spaces prior to scheduled event.

    • Represent the department in meetings and special projects as needed.
