In September of 2021, Urban Ventures launched the Cornwell Early Learning Center (CELC), which now serves as a community asset and entrance point to our organization's cradle-to-career pipeline.
The Educational Director supervises the implementation of curriculum and assessment practices used at CELC.One of the position's main functions is to coach the early learning staff and support their teaching practices and professional development (including compliance with licensing and Parent Aware requirements).
This position oversees the Parent Aware renewal process, tracks teacher training and ensures compliance with Rule 3 requirements. This position works alongside the Center's Administrative Director, with both directors reporting to the Organization's Vice President of Programming.Working Hours
40 hours per week: Regular working hours Monday through Friday
Primary Responsibility
Parent Aware
Maintain a 4-Star Parent Aware rating, including fostering a relationship with the Parent Aware Coach
o Prepare and submit the Quality Documentation Portfolio
o Ensure teachers have appropriate professional development for the Parent Aware Process
o Support educators in preparing for their Parent Aware observation
Update the Urban Ventures Develop Profile
Submit all evidence for Parent Aware through the Develop system
Other duties as assigned
Curriculum
Support and coach staff in the implementation and ongoing use of the Creative Curriculum
Oversee educator preparation time and work with them for weekly planning
Observe educators in the classroom
Assessment
Support educators in using Teaching Strategies Gold to complete child assessments
Plan and complete family/educator conferences no less than twice per year
Ensure that all assessments are complete and located in the child's file
Refer children for evaluation when necessary and oversee the early intervention process
Professional Development
Ensure that educators meet the annual licensing training requirement
Plan staff in-service days
Plan staff meetings (in partnership with Administrative Director)
Coach educators and support them with their teaching practice
Model professionalism and high-quality early education practices
Create and maintain professional development plans for all staff
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education and relevant license/certificate required.
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a licensed early education program required (Minnesota experience preferred); 2-3 years of administrative experience in an early childhood center preferred
Keen knowledge of Rule 3 requirements
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Action-oriented and self-starter; highly efficient with minimal direct supervision
Excellent communication skills, including face to face communication and written communication
Technologically proficient
Ability to meet physical demands of the job (lift/carry anywhere from 10-50 pounds)
CPR and FA certified or willing to become certified and maintain certifications
Pass required state and company background checks
