    Medical Billing Specialist

    At Brook, we're proud to offer innovative products that meet the needs of our customers in the challenging space of health care. To help us continue to grow and improve our offerings for our customers, we are seeking a responsible, motivated, and certified Medical Billing Specialist.

    Location: Buffalo, NY, Boston, MA or Downtown New York.
    Hybrid: This role will require 3 days/week in the office, and 2 days remotely.
    Compensation: $55,000 - $75,0000.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Data entry/superbill entry and submitting claims to various insurance companies.
    • Working directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to get claims processed and paid in a timely manner.
    • Pursue reimbursement from carriers by placing phone calls and documenting all communication in Medent EMR to ensure progress is made on outstanding accounts
    • Reviewing and appealing unpaid/denied claims, handling collection on unpaid accounts.
    • Verify Patient benefits & record patient responsibility into EMR
    • Post insurance payments (paper and electronic methods) into the EMR
    • Manage accounts receivable, medical billing, collections and posting
    • Communicate clearly and kindly to patients and staff to ensure work continues at an acceptable pace
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Minimum 2 years of AR/Billing experience in a healthcare setting
    • Expert level knowledge with Medent (Will consider a successful track record of working with 4-5 other EMR's in replacement of Medent experience)
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient excel or google sheets skills
    • Graduation from High School or equivalent
    • Epic/Cerner Certification (Strongly Preferred)
    • Medical Billing Certification (Strongly Preferred)
