Floor Technician

Summary

The Floor Technician scrubs, shines, cleans, and repairs carpeted and non-carpeted areas using equipment and chemicals. This role involves operating machinery and moving large furniture while following safety guidelines.

Job Duties

• Operates various types of equipment for floor care maintenance, including automatic scrubbers, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, burnishers, vacuums, sweepers, pressure wash equipment, and carpet extractors.
• Dust mops, cleans, and burnishes floors; strips, refinishes, scrubs, and/or recoats floors; machine scrubs floors according to floor maintenance schedules.
• Prioritizes and coordinates with other workers as needed to complete floor care work within multi-trade projects.
• Provides daily preventive equipment maintenance on used equipment.
• Makes adjustments to equipment, such as replacement of squeeze blades, hoses, and clearing clogged hoses. Tags equipment for major repairs and advises supervisors.
• Assists supervisors with inventory, ordering supplies, and ensures use of chemicals and equipment adheres to established safety standards and practices.
• Trains new employees in proper floor care methods and procedures according to company policy.
• Assists with general cleaning duties as needed by supervisors.
