    Do you want to make a material impact in the fight against climate change? Are you excited by the potential of large-scale carbon removal? If so, Captura is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our XPRIZE Milestone Award winning company.

    Developed and proven in Caltech's laboratories, Captura uses established electrochemical concepts to enable gigatonne-scalable solutions for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere via direct ocean capture. We capture carbon dioxide using only renewable electricity and ocean water, producing no by-products. Captura's mission is globally scalable carbon removal to support a sustainable future for the world's climate.

    As a member of the Engineering team, you will lead the commissioning phase for first of a kind Carbon Removal plants. This includes partnering with our plant development partners, often industrial facilities, and leading the installation, commissioning and handover phase.

    We are looking for someone with a technical background and understanding of how to build plants, experience working inside industrial facilities (oil & gas refineries, chemical plants, wastewater treatment plants) and a willingness to travel up to 50%, to support onsite installations at facilities around the world.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee commissioning effort of Captura first-of a kind plants to be collocated on industrial sites. Focus on ensuring that components, equipment and the systems are functioning in accordance with the requirements.
    • Formulate component, sub-system and system level, commissioning plans to ensure proper installation and commissioning of Captura's technology at ocean and shore-based sites
    • Develop and formalize technical documentation including troubleshooting guides, commissioning plans, Standard Operating Procedures, training guides, operation and maintenance manuals, etc.
    • Significant hands-on experience in operations inside the fence and problem solving.
    • Work with the vendors that partner with Captura to ensure requirements compliance and quality of the procured components and services for design, build and test of electrochemical cells and ocean water treatment systems. Preparation and issue of RFQ's, technical evaluation of supplier's quotations and proposals, trade-off analysis
    • Cooperate with the Captura's R&D team and contribute for the continuous process of technology optimization, from the lab through to large scale implementation and field testing.
    • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
    • Train operational staff on system functionalities and safety protocols.

    PRIOR EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working inside the fence of industrial facilities with an understanding of the safety and documentation requirements.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, and chemical processing.
    • Basic understanding of chemistry and process concepts in support of Captura Direct Ocean Capture systems.
    • Desire and ability to work on site, travel domestically and internationally as required for the assigned projects. Travel up to 50%.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage time effectively under tight deadlines.
    • Strong communication and documentation skills.
