Founded in the early 60's, we continue to pride our company on the principles that laid the initial foundation for success:hard work, customer satisfaction and quality products and service. Sanders Brother Construction is currently seeking a Preconstruction Manager – Site work. The PM will directly support the company's site and earthwork projects throughout the Charleston area. The PM will be a major contributor in supporting company projects, safety and principles.
Role and Responsibilities
The role of pre-construction manager incorporates strong communication, excellent organization, established software skills and knowledge/background of the construction industry in order to transition awarded bids into site work projects.
Enforcing SBCC safety program – "Critical 6" - including identifying & communicating safety concerns.Communicating regularly with project managers, general superintendents, VP and other business leadership the status/plan/schedule for current projects.
Must be able to multi task and handle multiple project set ups concurrently.
Review plans to ensure there is a clear understanding and knowledge of specifications and contract requirements.
Identify potential project related obstacles and develop solutions prior to impacting project productivity.
Preparing estimates and importing the projects into Bid 2 Win and Viewpoint.
Negotiating with material suppliers and subcontractors & preparing purchase orders and subcontract documents.
Requesting, preparing, and processing project submittals
Establishing and maintaining contacts and coordinating with the engineers, subcontractors and owners
Developing and preparing the project turn over package and communicate it to the project management team.
Create, review, and import change orders
Comply with and enforce all SBCC policies and procedures
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Minimum 4-year college Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree with 2 years' experience in the heavy highway or site work industry or 2-year college degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.
Proficient with construction bidding software, Bid 2 Win experience preferredProficient with construction accounting software, Viewpoint experience preferred.
Basic computer skills including MS Office and construction related software applications such as Project or Primavera scheduling software.
Must have the ability to work independently, maintain positive/enthusiastic attitude and present a professional image in accordance with SBCC standards.
Ability to read, understand and communicate requirements based on project plans, schedules and scope of overall project.Ability to effectively communicate oral/written with personnel, company leadership and customers.
Knowledge of the SCDOT construction specifications
Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
