- Regular patrols by foot and vehicle of the ten (10) drinking water reservoirs, watershed forestlands, and drinking water facilities
- Writing incident reports of accidents, trespassing, thefts, disturbances, and emergency first-aid response
- Educating the public about the rules and regulations on City of Worcester property
- Ensuring facility rules and regulations are adhered to
- Investigating disturbances and reporting emergencies to the authorities
- Checking drinking water pump stations for alarms and reporting emergencies to the appropriate staff
- Maintaining accurate daily activity reports
- Performing any related work as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of building protective procedures and techniques
- Enforcement of rules and regulations concerning grounds patrolled
- Experience with handheld radios and communication systems
- Ability to work independently and in diverse environments
- Comfortable with considerable walking and exposure to different weather conditions
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and the public
- Ability to follow instructions effectively
- Comfortable with evening, night, and weekend shifts
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Prior professional experience in a patrol environment
- Valid and unrestricted MA Driver's License
- Three (3) years of professional experience in a patrol environment
- Prior law enforcement and/or military experience
- One (1) year of experience with customer service

The City of Worcester is looking for a qualified individual to join their team as a Reservoir Security Guard for the Department of Public Works & Parks (DPW&P) Water Operations Division (Reservoir Section). As a part of the team, you will be responsible for protecting and patrolling DPW&P watershed areas, properties, and buildings. This position involves a lot of driving, so get ready to hit the road. You'll also be walking extensively and conducting thorough checks on departmental facilities during each shift, which will mostly be in the evenings, nights, and weekends.
