Deputy Director of Planning, Housing - Chestertown, MD

Job summary
The position is responsible for all departmental functions in the Planning Director's absence with primary focus ensuring land use serves community residents Manages complex mix project management review duties requiring extensive knowledge local regulations as well as state law Supervises employees directly in the Planning workgroup.
Responsibilities
- Manages planning and zoning project review personally and through staff oversight from permit assistance through major and minor subdivisions site plan approvals related variances special exceptions amendments Processes directives County Commissioners County Administrator Director relating to planning and zoning provides feedback appropriate on planning and zoning matters representing Department Director variety situations venues Provides expertise advice wide array boards commissions under purview of Planning Housing Zoning regular attendance meetings entities Provides effective direction assigned staff monitoring evaluating job performance Assists Director hiring training coaching modeling expected behaviors Provides direct assistance contractors consultants engineers project management interpretation county state regulations Maintains updates enforces Land Use Ordinance Comprehensive Plan affiliated regulations coordination with Director Schedules meetings assists agenda preparation oversees reviews meeting minutes prepares advertising coordinates applicants other staff Serves as Planning Directors designee Hearing Examiner Special Exceptions or Variances Performs other duties required.
