    Job Description

    The Trauma Registrar assists the Trauma Program Director in coordinating the activities of the Trauma Office and carries out routine and assigned non-nursing and clerical tasks. The Trauma Registrar through communication coordinates the activities of the Trauma Program Director and the entire multi-disciplinary trauma team. The position performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the trauma office and assists clinical trauma nurse coordinator in abstracting trauma patient information from the medical record and entering the data into the trauma registry.

    Responsibilities
    • Receives patient, physician and visitors into the department, ascertain the needs of each and direct them appropriately.
    • Assists any clinical trauma unit as requested by the Trauma Program Director with: Trauma data collection for ED, ICU, OR, PACU, PCU, trauma floors, and formation / analysis of trauma data for ancillary trauma departments to include: lab, radiology, interventional radiology, social work, case management, pharmacy, pastoral services, and respiratory.
    • Acts as Liaison between Trauma Program Director and Emergency Nurse Association.
    • Compiles and Analyzes Trauma Data.
    • Assists Clinical trauma Nurse Coordinator with the Trauma Registry.
    • Orders Supplies/Services.
    • Assists with Regulatory Site Surveys.
    • Provides clerical support for the Trauma Program Director.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Education
    • Technical Diploma/Certificate Required and
    • Certificate of Completion within 1 year of employment/transfer, ATS Registrar Course Required and
    • Certificate of Completion within 1 year of employment/transfer, AAAM AIS Injury Scaling Course Required
    Minimum Work Experience
    • 1-3 years ICD-10 coding experience Preferred
    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
    • Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
    • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology required.
    • Basic computer knowledge with basic Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with Excel and databases preferred
