    Role description:
    As a Senior Resident Engineer, you'll play a critical role in overseeing roadway and bridge construction projects, ensuring their smooth execution and adherence to strict standards

    Role accountabilities:

    Oversee and coordinate the work of a team of inspectors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.

    Review and manage project documents, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and Submittals, ensuring compliance with client specifications and contract requirements within a budget.

    Lead negotiations with contractors and assist in preparing change order documentation for approved project scope adjustments. Collaborate closely with project management staff to prepare and manage project budgets, scope, and schedules effectively.

    Provide insightful analysis and reporting on key performance metrics (e.g., cost, schedule, safety) to monitor project progress and identify areas for improvement.

    Implement appropriate internal control safeguards to ensure consistent reporting of accurate information. Act as the primary point of contact for the client and the contractor, fostering strong and collaborative working relationships.


    Qualifications & Experience:

    Must have 7-10 years of proven experience in construction management, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects involving Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway.

    Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Illinois.

    A minimum of one of the following certifications:
    Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.

    Proven experience with construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Bluebeam Revu) and strong understanding of relevant IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards.

    Prior IDOT Resident Engineer experience is highly preferred.
