Your role as a Licensed Practical Nurse ) with DDS
You wou ld be entrusted to perform a full range of nursing duties, and along with other duties as needed, we would have you:

Position Highlights
This is a full-time 70 hours/biweekly second (2nd) shift position
Schedule: 2:00 p.m. - 10:45 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
Regular Days Off:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
However, work schedule flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the job.
Must have a valid CT driver's license.
Will be required to travel.
FOR SECOND AND THIRD SHIFT POSITIONS -YOU MAY BE APPROVED FOR AN ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION BONUS: Each Licensed Pra ctical Nurse who is permanently assigned to second and third shift shall receive a yearly "retention" bonus of six hundred ($600).
In order to be eligible for this bonus, the Employee must have completed one year of service in the classification.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state facility this class is accountable for rendering bedside care or mental health services to individuals with physical disabilities and/or an intellectual disability in instances where the services of a registered nurse are not required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
This position provides nursing care for individuals staying at the Norwalk Respite Center.
The LPN in this position administers medications and treatments which may include insulin and glucagon injections; documents medications and treatments administered.
Maintains health and safety standards for residences/programs, including infection control practices.
Provides foley catheterization care, respiratory treatments, G and J-tube feedings and care, and colostomy care.
Provides incidental teaching to individuals served, staff, and families concerning medications and their use.
Monitors for desired and side effects of medications and treatments.
Maintains medication security, performs narcotic counts; transcribes and implements prescribers' orders; ensures supplies and medications are ordered and maintained.
Perform emergency first aid as needed; may provide dressing changes and other treatments.
Documents all care in individuals' medical records and completes required facility documentation; performs related residential duties as required.
In addition, the LPN in this position may assume lead worker duties as assigned.
This position is essential to providing services needed to ensure health and safety.
DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES:
Performs the full range of duties as described in the class specification for the Lead Developmental Services Worker ) .
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

practical nursing specialties and bedside care;
various medications used in conjunction for the care of individuals who have physical disabilities and/or an intellectual disability;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
License or temporary permit to practice nursing in Connecticut by the State Board of Examiners for Nursing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:
Experience providing nursing services to both children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder
Experience with basic nursing skills including, but not limited to: administering medication and nutrition via G-Tube or J-Tube; glucose monitoring, insulin administration; respiratory treatments, colostomy; cecostomy; urostomy care; wound care; and catheterization
Experience communicating with non-verbal individuals
Experience supporting individuals that may exhibit mild to severe challenging behaviors
Experience communicating internally and externally with a diverse population both over the telephone and in written inquiries
Experience using Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
