Asa Registered Nurse in the Newborn Intensive Care unit, you willcare for infants that need treatment to recover from more severeillnesses. In addition, you will play a role in nursing infants tothrive and achieve healthy weight post-birth. An RN in this role isfamiliar with complex medical histories, innovative surgicalprocedures, pain modalities, and comprehensive nutritionalsupport.

Your primary duties will includebut are not limitedto:

•Providing directnursingcare.

•Monitoring, recording, and communicatingpatients' conditions asappropriate.

•Preparing patient careplans.

•Administering prescribedmedications.

•Performing bedside hand-off reports andthorough bedside dailyrounds.

Responsibilities:

Provides direct patientcare to neonates in accordance with established policies,procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implementsand monitors patient care plans.
Monitors,records and communicates patient condition asappropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator ofall disciplines for well-coordinated patientcare.
Notes and carries out physician andnursing orders.
Assesses and coordinatespatient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcareteam.
Other duties asassigned.

Education:

Graduate from an accreditedschool of professional nursing.
BSNpreferred.

Certifications:

Currentlicensure as Registered Nurse(RN)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program(NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification withinone year of employment.
Proof ofBasic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)certification must be presented uponhire.

Complexityof Work:

Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.
Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriateaction.

WorkExperience:

Minimum oneyear experience in an acute care hospital settingrequired.
Will considerlicensed military RNexperience.

PhysicalRequirements:

Light Work -Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of forceconstantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more ofthe time) to move objects.
Even though theweight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should berated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to asignificant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of thetime but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls;and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate paceentailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials eventhough the weight of those materials isnegligible.
Note: The constant stress andstrain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in anindustrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a workereven though the amount of force exerted isnegligible.
