Senior Accountant

CFS has partnered with a contractor in lower Westchester to help identify their new Senior Accountant.

About the company:

Have been in business for 25+ years serving the NY Metro Area, along with surrounding counties.
They work on a variety of contracts ranging up to half a billion dollars.
This role is very hands on, and it can grow into a Controller position.
High visibility to management and their owners.

Responsibilities:

Review and reconcile payroll records to ensure accuracy and proper allocation of labor costs to specific projects.
Post job costs and payroll transactions accurately in the accounting system, maintaining detailed project expense records.
Enter accounts receivable invoices and requisitions promptly and accurately, in alignment with project timelines and client agreements.
Manage vendor relationships, including negotiating terms, resolving billing discrepancies, and processing payments in a timely manner.
Assist the CFO in completing annual and quarterly financial tasks such as year-end audits, tax preparation, and insurance requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support project planning and decision-making.
Stay updated on industry regulations and accounting standards relevant to construction accounting practices.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in public accounting OR from a construction company.
Prior knowledge of WIP and job costing principles is preferred.
