    Our client is a well-known NYC institution and is looking to hire several Temp Retail Sales Specialists to help in their gift shop for a 6-month contract. Their visitors are expecting a memorable experience and a high level of service from one of the teams Temp Retail Sales Specialists.

    Salary/Hourly Rate

    $23/hr

    Position Overview

    The Temp Retail Sales Specialists ensure customer service on the selling floor that exceeds the customers expectations and assists the Manager in achieving sales and service goals. They participate in zone coverage of the selling floor and are responsible for a specific area or category of business. The Temp Retail Sales Specialists contribute to shop and stock maintenance. Saturdays and Sundays are required.

    Responsibilities Of The Temp Retail Sales Specialists

    • Greet or acknowledge all customers entering the shop, approaching the sales location, or on the phone. Learn customers shopping purpose
    • Engage the customer in museum and/or sales-oriented conversations sell to the customer, up-sell to customer. Close sales by using knowledge of product and procedures helpful to the customer
    • Process payment at the register using the current selling script. Follows current cash, check, and credit procedures
    • Provide coverage of the selling floor when not on the register. Answer customer questions, escort customers to merchandise, perform shop maintenance in the area adjacent to the selling counter and participate in loss prevention efforts
    • Observe the schedule and maintain good attendance and punctuality
    • Assist with maintenance of shop and stock by cleaning, straightening, requisitioning merchandise, ticketing, and restocking, as needed
    • Participate in the annual inventory process
    • Other related duties to contribute to team effort

    Qualifications For The Temp Retail Sales Specialists

    • Must have 2 years of prior high-volume retail experience
    • Sales oriented
    • Outgoing, good interpersonal and communication skills are required
    • Ability to learn requirements of the job such as register functions, product information, museum collections and relatedness, location of merchandise, etc.
    • Knowledge of art history, museums, and NYC cultural institutions
    • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

    Education Requirements

    • College degree is preferred
