JOB SUMMARY
The Reliability Engineer I supports the reliability and performance of equipment, systems, and processes across the organization. This entry-level role assists with technical reliability studies, data collection, and analysis under the guidance of senior engineers. The position focuses on learning reliability methodologies and applying foundational engineering principles to support continuous improvement initiatives. Work is performed with structured guidance and supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in conducting engineering and statistical analyses to assess reliability of designs, materials, components, and systems.
- Supports measurement and analysis of reliability performance using established tools and methodologies.
- Participates in evaluating design or test methods and maintenance strategies to achieve reliability objectives.
- Assists in basic risk analyses and reliability modeling activities; supports identification of failure modes and recommended mitigation actions.
- Supports testing and analysis of new designs or modifications to improve reliability, cost, performance, and safety.
- Learns and applies established design, installation, test, and inspection criteria for equipment and systems.
- Assists with inspection of new installations to ensure specifications and standards are met; escalates findings as appropriate.
- Supports development and maintenance of asset maintenance plans and reliability work processes.
- Provides support to operations and maintenance teams on routine reliability issues and participates in troubleshooting activities.
- Prepares technical reports and documentation in accordance with policies, procedures, and engineering standards under supervision.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 0–2 years of related engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering field.
- Exposure to reliability tools, methodologies, and data analysis through coursework, internships, or entry-level experience preferred.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, chemical, or life sciences environments is a plus.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of reliability engineering principles (FMEA, RCM, Weibull analysis, etc.) or willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail and quality-focused work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with guidance from senior engineers.
- Effective communication and technical report writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage assigned tasks.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and maintenance functions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This role may involve work in laboratory or manufacturing environments with potential exposure to chemicals or other regulated substances. As a condition of employment, incumbents may be required to participate in employer-provided medical surveillance programs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policy.
