Works independently on weekends and holidays. Contributes to specific projects in support of Comparative Medicine initiatives. Provides exemplary animal care. Adheres to all department and AbbVie regulatory expectations, as well as USDA and FDA regulations. Provides veterinary care in support of the AbbVie drug discovery and development process.Conducts routine veterinary nursing care.
Understands husbandry and facility practices.
Provides anesthesia support under supervision for procedures including surgery, dental prophylaxis, and imaging procedures.
Observes, collects, and records a variety of data in support of study goals or veterinary care.
Documents in medical records, GLP forms, etc. Maintains appropriate documentation, handling, and archiving of data, as required by research, veterinary procedures and/or regulatory guidelines.
Provides basic level technical training.
Routine maintenance of veterinary labs area.
Applies basic computer skills including but not limited to, email, calendar, computer-based training modules, and data entry.
Works in compliance of all applicable local, federal, GLP, FDA, and USDA regulations.
AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level preferred.
Basic proficiency in veterinary technical skillset
Ability to work with multiple lab animal species.
Ability to work in compliance with all local, federal, GLP, FDA, USDA regulations
Commitment to animal welfare
Good communication skills with both internal staff and those external of the department.
Able to work a rotating schedule which includes mandatory weekend coverage and holiday coverage.
