- Review intake and patient history for information pertinent to scheduled exam.
- Perform indicated high risk associated OB ultrasound exams.
- Document and generate ultrasound report
- Completes any duties and special assignments as requested.
- Administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of patients.
- Demonstrates safety for patients, staff and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent department operations.
- Degree or Certification in sonography from accredited college. Training may be available in hospitals, vocational-technical institutions and Armed forces.
- Display dependability and initiative in job performance by being prompt in completing tasks and helping others as needed or when called upon.
- Minimum one or more years of experience and/or training with graduate sonographers.
- ARDMS Registered in OB; new graduates have to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
- Need to complete 1-Fetal Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone Certification, 2-Cervical length Review (CLEAR) and 3- Fetal Echo certification.
- Oversee the work of other personnel/ Students by training, allocating, and monitoring work. Perform work of a similar nature.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
- Select and operate equipment as directed. Troubleshoot and report to Clinic Admin.
- Ensure the preventative maintenance is performed according to the established schedule.
- Review and evaluate completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensure quality images.
- Coordinate the preparation of films/exams and needed documentation for physician partners.
- Request and order supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
- Coordinate time off schedule of Sonographers.
- At the direction of a qualified physician or advanced practice provider (APP), performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans.
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders in order to perform prescribed study.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and attend to all age-related physical, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
- Prepares equipment and supplies.
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
- Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
- Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including re-positioning patients and repeating procedures. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
- Must maintain all required certifications or licensures

This position is in a progressive, busy office and will scan outpatients and inpatients providing comprehensive collaboration with Maternal Fetal Medicine providers, Registered Nurses and OB/GYN Providers. Provides clinical services according to specialized maternal fetal ultrasound practice standards to detect fetal anomalies and acts as a resource to students, nurses, fellows and other technologists, to ensure the safety of patients.
