Primary Services is excited to announce the role of
Mechanical Engineer
for a large and well-established energy sector client. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex substation projects that enhance system reliability, optimize asset performance, and support long-term infrastructure strategy. The
Mechanical Engineer
will play a key role in engineering design, cost analysis, construction coordination, and research initiatives within a highly structured and technically advanced environment.

Responsibilities

Design electric substation facilities and prepare detailed engineering work orders.
Develop project cost estimates and support capital budgeting activities.
Finalize project scope descriptions, manpower requirements, and engineering documentation.
Manage assigned projects to meet established schedules and budget targets.
Maintain and update project data within SAP systems.
Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing teams, purchasing agents, vendors, and management regarding substation reliability, inspection technologies, and rehabilitation initiatives.
Support construction activities by providing technical guidance and resolving field issues.
Recommend and coordinate research and development projects, including preparation of RFPs, evaluation of contractor bids, and review of contract terms and conditions.
Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to management regarding project updates and technical findings.
Participate in after-hours emergency response as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a related engineering field.
Master of Science in Engineering may substitute for one year of professional experience.
Experience in substation design, power systems, or utility infrastructure projects preferred.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or computer-aided drafting tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Experience using SAP and GIS systems.
Ability to perform advanced mathematical computations including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus for engineering and economic analyses.
Experience preparing cost estimates and technical project documentation.
