    Overview

    The HVAC Controls Technician is responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of the Building Automation System (BAS), chillers, boilers, air handlers, exhaust equipment, refrigeration units and other similar/related HVAC systems in support of the EControls and Ethium manufacturing facilities.

    Utilizing an extensive background in HVAC, the HVAC Controls Technician will also be responsible for boiler operation, chiller plant sequencing, BAS controls programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning, small project management, and other functions as assigned.

    Additionally, it is the duty of the HVAC Controls Technician to identify points of failure and inefficiency throughout the campus, and to submit comprehensive reports/proposals detailing solutions to the Director of Facilities.

    The ideal candidate will continue to improve upon their own knowledge base, contribute to the knowledge base of their peers, and promote a safe working environment while delivering a superior customer service experience.

    Responsibilities
    Ensure all Preventive Maintenance procedures are documented, scheduled, and performed according to OEM or AEM recommendations.

    Provide expert guidance and supervision of all in-house personnel and contractor/vendors for all maintenance and repairs of the HVAC related equipment and systems.

    Perform preventative maintenance and repair of air handler units (AHU's), RTU's, chillers, and hot water boilers and other equipment as assigned.

    Troubleshoot and service pneumatic and Direct Digital Control (DDC) BAS systems, air handling systems.
    Ability to add or replace BAS sensors and actuators as needed for optimized operation of BAS.

    Utilize BAS to monitor and adjust system settings, start/stop equipment, adjust set points, access all units and their menus, view and change attributes of any point necessary in the system.

    Ensure all safety, environmental, and site standards are strictly adhered to within the facility by both company and any vendors performing work.

    Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, all applicable building codes, and policies and procedures.
    Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or technical apprenticeship of 4+ years in an HVAC&R Service or Electrical trade (concessions may be made for equivalent combination of education and experience).

    Technical knowledge of HVAC and building systems required to evaluate and test system performance. Effective written and oral communication skills required.
    A working history of 2+ years in an institutional environment.

    DDC certifications in any of the following:
    Johnson Controls, Niagara, or Automated Logic.
    Willingness to work overtime and/or on weekends as required.
    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to identify issues and help develop strategy and tactical plans for various department initiatives.
    Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
    Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
    Ability to work both independently and with others
    Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines
    Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills
    Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications
    Must have a current valid driver's license.
