    Job Overview

    The Coordinator, Patient Safety is responsible for supporting the comprehensive AltaMed Health Services Patient Safety Program working to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, visitors and Health Care Personnel.

    The Coordinator collaborates with Patient Safety leadership, AltaMed leaders, and the AltaMed Health Services Department to identify and mitigate areas of risk to patients, visitors, health care personnel and the organization.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
    • Graduation from an accredited vocational nursing program preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years of patient care experience required.
    • Minimum 2 years experiences in healthcare Quality, Safety, or Risk Management programs preferred.
    • Possess and maintain valid and unrestricted license issued by the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse prefer
    Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of clinical governance, clinical risk management and quality improvement concepts with particular emphasis on continuous quality improvement and organizational change.
    • Highly developed work organization and project management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging needs, work towards specified targets and deadlines and pay attention to detail.
    • Ability to utilize good negotiation skills; use high level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work consultatively and collaboratively with staff at all levels including senior clinical personnel and managers; prepare reports using clear, concise language; organize information into a logical sequence and include content appropriate for the purpose and audience.
    • Ability to self-direct and initiate without constant supervision.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and projects.
    • Demonstrates excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to problem solve, analyze situations, think critically, and give constructive feedback.
