Job description

DESCRIPTION

Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.

The Worldwide Environment team (focusing on waste, water, circularity and biodiversity) utilizes science-based approaches to lower Amazon's environmental impact in the areas of waste, water, and biodiversity across the operations of our business units and products, making meaningful and measurable impacts in the communities in which we operate.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to drive critical waste reduction and circular solutions initiatives across our global operations. This strategic role will directly impact Amazon's environmental footprint across our fulfillment centers, transportation network, and retail operations.

Working at the intersection of sustainability, operations, and innovation, you'll collaborate with senior leadership to develop and scale programs that revolutionize how Amazon manages waste and resources.

You'll be responsible for creating and implementing frameworks that drive measurable environmental improvements while maintaining operational excellence across our worldwide facilities. This role offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on global sustainability practices and diverse stakeholders across Amazon.

A successful Sustainability Specialist must be able to work independently, be comfortable with ambiguity, and influence internal/external partners at all levels of the organization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the development and execution of waste prevention and diversion programs
  • Work with diverse and senior stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and implement waste prevention and diversion frameworks into the business
  • Use analytical tools to evaluate program impact and available data
  • Own recommendations for sustainability-related solutions, including business cases to get buy-in from senior stakeholders
