    Pay range for new hires: $ 40.91 to $ 65.44

    Night and weekend shift differentials up to $6 per hour

    Job Overview:

    The Critical Care Float Nurse provides nursing care as part of our interdisciplinary team as needed in the following areas: PCU, ICU, ED, PACU and Mother-Baby Couplet Care in OB (Postpartum). Must be competent to provide care as the primary nurse managing advanced therapies in our rural Intensive Care Unit, while also remaining flexible to float to other departments within the facility.

  • Provides professional nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Actively supports the nursing philosophy by striving for excellence in patient care, professional development, interpersonal relations, time management, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Works in support of the medical staff treatment plan by performing patient and family assessment, monitoring patient condition, planning care accordingly, and implementing and evaluating the plan of care so that problems are resolved and outcomes are optimized.
  • Educates patients and family around the plan of care and disease management. Evaluates learning needs of patients and family and provides education consistent with patient's learning style and appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient/family learning.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support needs. Effectively delegates to ancillary personnel as appropriate. Acts as a resource to other clinical staff.
  • Recognizes need for and leads resuscitation efforts in accordance with guidelines until relieved by a physician.
  • Records clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and hospital policy.
  • Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
  • NRP certification.
  • TNCC certification.
  • At least 3 years experience as an RN.
  • At least 2 years critical care RN experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • CEN, CPEN, CCRN, ONC, CMSRN, RNC-MNN and/or PED-BC preferred.
  • ENPC certification preferred.
  • STABLE certification preferred.
  • FCCS and PFCCS certification preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature.
  • Work is physically strenuous with prolonged periods of standing and moving.
  • Requires bending, reaching, and lifting while caring for and moving patients.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases through normal or careless performance of responsibilities.
  • May be exposed to stressful, unpredictable, and potentially dangerous situations.
