    Position Overview:

    A leading energy trading firm based in Houston, Texas is seeking an experienced Power Trader to join their dynamic team. The company specializes in trading electricity and related commodities in the competitive energy markets.

    As a Senior Power Trader, you will play a crucial role in executing trading strategies, managing risk, and optimizing profitability in the electricity markets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of power markets, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of success in trading electricity products.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of power markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, regulatory developments, and market trends to identify trading opportunities.
    2. Trading Execution: Execute trades in the electricity markets to capitalize on market inefficiencies and arbitrage opportunities while managing risk within established limits.
    3. Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of physical and financial power positions, optimize trading strategies, and actively monitor positions to maximize profitability.
    4. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with counterparties, exchanges, and other market participants to facilitate trading activities and access market intelligence.
    5. Risk Management: Implement and adhere to risk management policies and procedures, including position limits, stop-loss mechanisms, and hedging strategies to mitigate market risk.
    6. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze trading performance metrics, P&L attribution, and risk metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of trading strategies and identify areas for improvement.
    7. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal trading policies, including reporting obligations and market conduct standards.
    8. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including quantitative analysts, traders, and risk managers, to develop and implement trading strategies and contribute to the overall success of the trading desk.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in power trading, with a proven track record of success in trading electricity products.
    • Deep understanding of power markets, including power generation, transmission, and distribution dynamics, as well as regulatory frameworks and market structures.
    • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and data interpretation.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with counterparties, colleagues, and stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt to changing market conditions.
    • Proficiency in trading systems and software, including experience with energy trading platforms and market data analysis tools.
    • Knowledge of energy derivatives, options pricing, and risk management techniques is a plus.
