    Summary: The Dentist is responsible for the direct provision of quality dental care and preventative services while maintaining compliance with all federal grants, OSHA, Dental Board, and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures. The Dentist supports the Dental Director and Dental Operations Manager in upholding all organizational policies and procedures and assists in the training and development of dental staff.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes, and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
    • Ensures proper utilization of dental assistants and support staff to ensure efficient and adequate patient flow for the delivery of quality dental care to all patients.
    • Records patient-dentist encounters as they occur in the patient's dental record in accordance with the organizational standard and the standard of care.
    • Assures adequate supervision of the dental hygienist and assistant staff, while performing dental services.
    • Provides oversight of clinical services to dental hygiene and dental students.
    • Assures full compliance by following all organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Educates patients and staff on oral health-related conditions and the general promotion of oral disease prevention.
    • Assists in providing health/dental education and technical assistance to the community as requested.
    • Conducts an evening clinic a minimum of one (1) evening per week as designated.
    • Meets outlined productivity and quality metrics as designated and per grant requirements.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Training:

    • Graduation from an accredited dental school.
    • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.
    • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges.
    • FTCA coverage or professional malpractice insurance is obtainable.

    Licensure/Credentials:

    • Current and unrestricted dental license to practice dentistry.
    • Current CPR (BLS) certification.
    • Current DEA license.
    • Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers.
