    Description

    The Student Success Center (SSC) at Loyola University New Orleans is looking for a Testing/Assistive Technology Coordinator to support students with disabilities at Loyola. The Testing/Assistive Technology Coordinator supports Loyola's commitment to creating an accessible space where a variety of people and perspectives are welcome, and to providing an environment where people from all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, and backgrounds may succeed. This person coordinates testing and technology for students with disabilities. In addition, this person may also assist with mentoring programs, events, workshops, and/or other retention-focused initiatives.

    This is an in-person, non-exempt, 10-month benefits-eligible position (August-May). This position is part of a dynamic, student-centric team that supports Loyola students. The Testing/Assistive Technology Coordinator interacts with the SSC staff and reports to the Director of the Office for Accessible Education (OAE).
    Examples of Duties

    Essential Functions
    • Manage and troubleshoot daily administrative processes.
    • Coordinate and actively proctor all accommodated tests administered by the OAE.
    • Maintain security of tests and materials by routinely inventorying materials, reviewing
    • procedures for security, ensuring secure storage, and returning all tests and related materials to appropriate faculty and staff in a timely manner.
    • Prepare necessary documentation of academic dishonesty as needed.
    • Interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, parents, prospective students, and
    • alumni, accurately answering inquiries regarding the Office for Accessible Education via telephone, email, and in the office.
    • Assist students with scheduling and canceling OAE appointments for exams, as well as
    • connecting with Accessibility Counselors.
    • Design and distribute flyers, handouts, and door signs regarding OAE hours of operation,
    • expectations, and rules.
    • Assist the OAE team in maintaining the OAE public areas, OAE testing rooms, office supplies, and equipment.
    • Provide training and access to assistive technology (voice input, screen readers, technology
    • for note taking assistance, assistive listening devices and other similar technologies or software.)
    • Knowledge of Braille Printers.
    • Build rapport with undergraduate students and provide referrals to campus resources as
    • appropriate.
    • Compile and prepare reports based on OAE activity and exams administered.
    • Assist the OAE team in obtaining or creating alternate format course materials for students,
    • including book scanning.
    • Achieve mastery of the technology platforms used in the OAE, Student Success Center, and
    • Loyola.
    • Execute other office management and administrative duties as required, including but not
    • limited to, returning calls, taking messages, and filing.

    Typical Qualifications

    Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
    • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
    • Minimum of 6-months to one year experience with proctoring exams, working with students, or counseling preferred. Student employment or graduate student level experience accepted.
    • Ability to effectively communicate information with accuracy via phone, e-mail, and in person.
    • Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, proficiency with Excel and Word.
    • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to store and maintain confidential information.
    • Ability to develop congenial working relationships with others.
    • Ability to establish a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, and faculty.
    • Ability to develop, plan, and execute programs and events.
    • Availability on some evenings and weekends as required during heavy testing periods.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in higher education settings and with students with disabilities.
    • Experience and comfort working with diverse student populations.
    • Eagerness to learn and implement processes to provide access to students with disabilities, including assistive technology and testing practices.
