- Valid Virginia teaching license with Library Media K-12 endorsement
- Teaching or Library experience preferred
- Foster an atmosphere which encourages student and staff library media center usage.
- Prepare and submit an annual budget for the library media center.
- Maintain accurate records of library media center reports such as: Expenditure reports, requisitions/purchase orders, Destiny Library Manager, circulation reports, technical work orders, etc.
- Inform staff of new professional resources that enhance teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
- Provide staff assistance in designing activities that help students learn to identify, analyze, and synthesize information by using a variety of materials & formats.
- Participate in instructional planning by collaborating with classroom teachers to design, implement & evaluate resource-based teaching units.
- Provide information literacy skills instruction.
- Assist students and staff in the use and production of supplementary teaching/learning materials. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
