    Summary:


    The Project Engineer Mechanical (PEM) is a member of the core project team; the core project team is comprised of the Project Manager (PM), Project Engineer Mechanical (PEM), and Project Engineer Controls (PEC).

    This team will be the leadership for the execution of the project. The PEM is responsible for managing, coordinating, or controlling the mechanical engineering work packages throughout the assigned project.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    Compliance with company, legal, and regulatory requirements for Health, Safety, and Environmental topics in order to foster a culture of Health & Safety.

    Responsible for coordinating technical matters, quality, cost, and scheduling mainly for the mechanical engineering work packages.
    As member of Project Core Team, will be customer point of contact for all mechanical designs, studies, issues, etc.

    Drawing up and maintaining costs and scheduling overviews, as well as technical/commercial reporting to the project management and line organization.

    Works with project core team to develop and share ownership of project timing, as well as ensuring Workfront tasks are up to date.

    Supports in cost negotiations with customers and suppliers.
    Leading and supporting communications between departments, the core team, suppliers, and customers in regards to assigned projects.
    Review and improve design concepts for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and specifications.

    Responsible for creating mechanical engineering execution documentation (safety concept, primary specifications, customer specifications, long leads releases, etc.) and getting the customer approval.

    Line-up and lead designers and detailers (internal and/or external) to successfully execute designs.
    Ensuring preparation of the mechanical engineering related project and process documentation. (ex. Spare/Wear info for internal/external and Tier 2 suppliers)
    Check feasibility and cost effectiveness of proposed design concepts.
    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree in a related field from a 4-year college or university with at least 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    The individual must have the ability to execute engineering design for the product using 2D and 3D CAD software (Inventor or Solidworks, and AutoCAD)
    Past work experience in design of powertrain assembly or battery assembly systems.
    Working knowledge of product lifecycle management software and project scheduling software
    Ability to utilize personal computer equipped with electronic database, spreadsheet, and word processor software.
    Ability to create a design concept based on a written specification and customer part information.
