    • Job Summary
      • The APN will provide assessment and treatment of patients with acute medical conditions while located in a retail setting. The APN will work independently to diagnose and treat a limited scope of medical illness and injury; prescribe medications, in addition to providing wellness health screenings and medical testing. The APN will work in collaboration with other clinicians to provide a gateway to other health-related services while serving a community need for accessibility, affordability and high quality health care. The APN will also perform daily operational duties (registration, insurance processing, etc.) inherent to a retail clinic setting.
    • Job Specifications
      • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters prepared and licensed in the state of Illinois to practice as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist with specialized focus in family health preferred. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date. The APN should have experience in assessment, planning, implementation, diagnosis and evaluation of a wide variety of patient care conditions. Prior experience in clinic, family practice or similar setting is desirable.
      • JOB KNOWLEDGE: The APN will have a high degree of knowledge that is applied within the APN / patient relationship to achieve optimal outcomes through analysis, problem solving and evidence-based decision making as it relates to patient care. The APN must also have, or be willing to develop, the knowledge and ability to oversee daily operations in a retail clinic setting. A basic knowledge of regulatory agency standards is required, i.e. CLIA, CDC, OSHA, etc. Knowledge of clinic / hospital policies, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of medical and technical equipment used. Knowledge of medical-legal rules and regulations, i.e. child abuse reporting, domestic violence reporting, elder abuse reporting, etc., and a desire and willingness to continually acquire additional knowledge as it applies to the retail clinic work setting.

        • Ability to accept supervision and constructively utilize input and feedback.
        • Ability to establish positive relationships with patient, families, retail employees, and others encountered in the workplace.
        • Self motivated and a commitment to strive for continual improvement of professional skills and ongoing improvement within role.
        • Demonstrates dependability, a positive attitude, sense of humor, and ability to accept change while maintaining a commitment to positively represent the clinic and hospital.
        • Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
