    Role definition: This role coaches / leads project teams involving material suppliers and business division Supply Chain personnel to increase supplier capability. Coaches / leads lean events to deliver tools, processes and expertise to Cat's suppliers to enable them to replenish material to Caterpillar requirements.

    Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    This position coaches and leads teams to help suppliers to build lean supply chain capability in the areas of material replenishment to business divisions, improved Sales and Operations Planning, high-velocity throughput, optimized logistics and capacity planning. This position coaches / leads project teams comprised of multi-functional resources, including business division supply chain planning, site global purchasing, operations, receiving, Global Transportation, Demand and Orders, Material Requirements Planning and Logistics.

    This position coaches / leads lean events and works collaboratively with suppliers and multiple business division functions to address and resolve supplier issues using root cause and corrective action (RCCA).

    The incumbent coaches / leads tactical work to develop supplier value stream maps and to develop supplier plans for every part. This position works on project teams improving material flow and preparing suppliers to respond to material requirements.

    This position coaches / leads teams to addresses day-to-day supplier constraints to improve supplier performance and their ability to flexibly and rapidly respond to Caterpillar requirements.

    The incumbent coaches / leads teams to deploy pull replenishment at supplier facilities, including supplier inventory sizing activities. The incumbent coaches / leads the Supply Chain Planning Process with suppliers, providing leadership to project teams.

    Incumbent coaches / leads team projects to implement improved supplier collaboration with Caterpillar and third party service providers using common collaboration technologies.

    Incumbent leads and facilitates supplier interaction with business division packaging and transportation resources to optimize packaging, containerization, point of use presentation, barcode labeling, ASN compliance, enhanced communications related to quality improvements, and improving carrier selection and transportation container optimization.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles
    • CPS Functional Job Role Qualified
    • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Solid product knowledge
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service focus
    • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures, especially those with supplier impact
    • Solid supply chain planning, demand and orders, logistics and manufacturing knowledge
    • Experience in Global Purchasing, Material Requirements, or Supply Chain / Logistics is desired.

    POSITION IMPACTS: Incumbent is responsible to achieve PQVC targets across Inventory Level / Turns, point of use material Availability, Supplier Delivery Performance and Supplier Quality (ie: APQP, PPM, PCA) for a business division.

    Education:

    Bachelors degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR 7 years of relevant experience desired.

    Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

    Effective Communications : Level Extensive Experience

    Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    Problem Solving : Level Extensive Experience

    Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

    Demand Management : Level Extensive Experience

    Knowledge of processes and methods of Demand Management; ability to effectively sense, predict, plan for and manage the demand for products and services.

    Forecasting : Level Extensive Experience

    Knowledge of forecasting tools, approaches and practices; ability to determine product demand and estimate production requirements and loads.
