    OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer on our Outdoor product team in our Cary, NC location.

    In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced engineering skills and project planning for mechanical or electromechanical solutions or systems.

    Essential FunctionsAble to complete the most difficult tasks as a Master CAD-user including the completion of complex mechanical designsKnowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, material requirements, material performance, material limitations, etc.

    Specify test plans, mock up and test complex mechanical systems with complex performance requirements to validate and verify compliance with design requirementsManage basic tradeoffs, determine risk mitigation plans, determine project goal/objective feasibility, provide technical input to product development plans/concept documents, and drive process vendors to evaluate complex mechanical designs and understand riskLead explorations of new technologies and make estimates on moderately complex mechanical designs including:

    tooling, part cost, and design timeKnowledge of Industry and Garmin product qualification tests (environmental and others)Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques and offer process improvements and author new procedures Basic QualificationsBachelor`s Degree in Mechanical Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Demonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software for completing complex mechanical designs (Solidworks or Onshape preferred)Desired Qualifications Collaboration with EE and ID teamsElectronic packaging design experienceDesign experience for the Outdoor industry Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
