Job DescriptionUPPER SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER
North Broward Preparatory School is seeking High School English teacher with experience and expertise teaching high school students with a range of abilities in English/ language arts courses. Required experience includes knowledge and/or experience teaching high school students as they grow in reading skills, the writing process, research skills, vocabulary acquisition, listening and speaking, and citizenship. Candidates will also need excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, a desire to work as part of a collaborative team, and strong emotional intelligence.

JOB PURPOSE
You'll help us increase student achievement by serving as a teacher, advocate, and advisor.
You'll explain the established curriculum as described in the NBPS curriculum maps by selecting and planning appropriate learning and teaching activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
LEARNING AND TEACHING
Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students.
Encourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties.
Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive.
Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
Incorporate all four skills (listening, writing, reading, speaking) based on proficiency levels into classroom instruction.
Develop lessons that engage students in higher order thinking (refer to Bloom's Taxonomy) personalizing instruction based on student need.
Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.
