    Position Title: Project Accountant

    Location: New York, United States

    Department: Accounting

    Description: Our company is seeking an entry-level Project Accountant to join our Accounting team in the New York City area. This role is responsible for managing our projects' billing process, including verifying employees' chargeable time and expenses according to established accounting standards and billing policy. The successful candidate will also establish and update project budgets as needed and ensure project data is current and correct.

    We have over 137 years of experience in providing full-service infrastructure engineering solutions. Our clients rely on us for intricate and innovative engineering solutions, trusting our ability to manage the entire life cycle of a project from study and planning to design and construction. With 30 offices nationwide and over 600 talented employees, we can efficiently handle assignments of all sizes and types across the country and globally.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Preparing invoice submissions for government and private clients with appropriate documentation and backup.
    • Maintaining complete and accurate project folders with related documents
    • Entering budget changes and variance adjustments as needed in our reporting system
    • Coordinating billing procedures with branch offices
    • Responding to client requests for supplemental reports or detailed backup documentation
    • Communicating with project managers regarding financial project status, contract modifications, and client invoicing requirements
    • Examining unbilled costs and unpaid invoices monthly to maximize billing and collection potential
    • Reviewing sub-consultant invoice submissions to ensure compliance with contract provisions and budgetary limits
    • Performing additional responsibilities as required by project and company needs


    Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Business Administration, zero to two years of relevant accounting experience, Deltek Vision experience preferred. The ideal candidate should be able to prioritize work, organize workflow, and juggle conflicting demands. They should possess good communication, organizational, and time management skills, proficiency in Microsoft software applications, self-leadership with attention to detail, and ability to comply with deadlines. Professional attitude and high level of integrity are essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively when necessary.

    Benefits: Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 annually commensurate with experience. We offer a professional work environment, competitive salary, benefits package, and 401(k).
