    We are actively looking for a Coastal Engineer to join our Coastal team in Mobile.


    As part of the Coastal Group, this position will plan and design for urban waterfront and coastal projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments, cruise ship facilities, wetland restoration, modeling and analysis, dredging, shore protection structures, and flood walls.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.

    Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.

    Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.
    Creates feasibility study by analysing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
    Develops construction specifications, plans, and schedules to produce engineering documents.

    Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.

    Successfully assist with ongoing Coastal / Water practice through contacts and business development efforts working with EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, Local Environmental agencies, as well as private sector clients
    Implementing scientific and regulatory tasks for projects to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, ocean, or environmental engineering; required
    Master's degree in coastal or ocean engineering; preferred
    4 plus years of experience as a Coastal Engineer; required
    Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required
    Software experience required;

    Proficient in AutoCAD
    Microstation, Civil3D, or SWMM proficiency; preferred
    Coastal modeling software; preferred

    Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
    All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST

    Physical requirements:
    Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
