    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Supervise technologists and other support personnel as required. Helps in the schedule process, orders supplies, helps in the quality improvement process, serves on committees as needed, oversees the daily operation in specific areas to insure proper workflow and timely completion of radiologic procedures. Performs other delegated tasks as needed. Performs employee evaluations for specified areas.

    DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    • Organizes and directs daily operations in assigned areas.
    • Maintains adequate departmental supplies.
    • Maintains staffing in specified areas.
    • Monitors equipment and reports any needed repairs.
    • Must know and follow departmental policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for special delegated tasks.
    • Considers age-related needs of patients (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric).
    • Performs employee evaluations in specified areas.

    SUPERVISION: Reports to Radiology Director

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Associate degree in Radiography from an accredited college

    Experience:

    • Four years as Diagnostic Technologist.
    • Two to three years experience in area of supervision.
    • Knowledge and ability to operate radiology/imaging equipment and perform radiology, imaging and therapeutic procedures.

    Certification and Licensure:

    • Must be ARRT registered
    • Must be licensed by the State of Texas
    • CPR Certified Basic Life support with 90 days of hire date

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull heavy objects and to constantly walk, stand bend, reach and/or stoop
    • Ability to perform a full range of body motions including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination
    • Ability to see and hear to normal range with correction
    • Ability to wear lead protective devices for extended periods of time
    • Ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours

    SKILLS:

    • Knowledge and use of all Diagnostic radiation producing equipment
    • Ability to use equipment without direct supervision
    • Independent use of clinical knowledge and experience
    • Knowledge of radiation safety
    • Good communication skills
    • Understanding of patient needs all ages
    • Basic computer skills

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    • Exposure to infectious disease on a constant basis
    • Exposure to ionizing radiation on a frequent basis
    • Exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements, some of which are potentially hazardous or harmful, and which may require exercise of well defined precautions for protection from injury or illness
    • Potential for cuts, bruises, and muscle strains
