    Job Description

    We are seeking a dynamic and hardworking Hospitalist to join our program at UnityPoint St. Luke's in Sioux City, IA.

    About the Hospital

    The hospital is a 180-bed tertiary care/Level III Trauma center/acute care hospital with all medical sub-specialists available, including Cardiology, EP, Interventional cardiology, GI, Hem Oncology, Nephrology, Pulmonary Critical care, Pediatric hospitalists, Dermatology, Rheum, etc.

    All surgical sub-specialists are also available, excluding CT surgery.

    The hospital has an open ICU (18 beds) with Intensivist support, and no procedures or lines or intubations or vent management are required from Hospitalists.

    Anesthesia, Surgery, Intensivists, and PICC nurses handle these tasks.

    The EMR system used is Epic, with all providers using the same templates and order sets to reduce variation in practice.

    Schedule and Staffing

    The daytime staff consists of 4 physicians and 2 NPs, with 4 physicians and 1 NP working 12-hour shifts (7a-7p), splitting new admissions 2-3 hours per day.

    A 6th provider is an NP who works 8-hour rounds on weekdays, and physicians typically leave after rounds but must stay In-House during 4-hour call timings.

    No night calls are scheduled, with nights staffed by 2 in-house NPs from 7p-7a.

    A rounding nurse assists each 12-hour shift physician with putting orders in Epic, problem list, admission orders, DC orders, and taking phone calls.

    Benefits

    The base pay is $300k, with a wRVU bonus of $25 per each wRVU over 5000, and a 401k profit-sharing plan (after 1st year).

    A $50K signing bonus is offered for a 5-year commitment, repayable if left early.

    Hospitalists typically make around $330k per year for a full-time job (26 weeks), plus optional moonlighting of $50-100k.

    Moonlighting opportunities are available in other hospitals.

    The benefits package includes paid malpractice with tail coverage, medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability, short-term disability, and 401K profit-sharing plan.
