    Potter's House Ministries - AmeriCorps VISTA


    The Potter's House is a choice food pantry, we provide senior boxes to poverty stricken seniors, we have a summer feeding program and a rural feeding program for children in our community to allow them to be fed and have some fun in the summer months while out of school.

    We provide Christmas gifts to children at Christmas time. We are also a benefits application site for applications such as HEAP, PIPP, SNAP, and medical insurance. We are also a year around Tax preparation site. We are trying to become more of a one stop shop in our community. If we don't have what the client needs, we may know someone who does.     Member Duties :

    As our VISTA, you will further the Potter's House mission of expanding opportunities for low to moderate income residents of Scioto County.

    Specifically, you will play a critical role in increasing food access through the coordination of more home deliveries to senior citizens and families.

    Identifying areas of highest need and securing monetary and volunteer support, you will ensure that food can be provided to households lacking transportation.

    Your work will also include increasing the availability of nutritious food items distributed in our pantry.

    Working with area farmers, food banks, and other agencies, you will develop sustainable community partnerships to source healthy food options.

    Finally, you will create and distribute a community resource guide, promoting awareness of important information about local agencies in our community and their provided services.

    Benefits include a monthly $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.
